His films come out of a long photographic practice in remote Australia - more than twenty-five thousand kilometres driven across the interior, photographing land and the people who live at the edges of it.
He is drawn to places that hold their history visibly: ground that carries the evidence of what has been done to it, and the communities that form around that evidence.
He shoots almost exclusively on film. His most recent documentary, Where the Grass Don’t Grow, was made on 16mm at Lake Gairdner in South Australia with the support of Creative Australia.
It premiered in competition at the Melbourne International Film Festival Shorts Awards and screened in the Short Film Competition at the 42nd Warsaw International Film Festival.
Alongside documentary he works in fashion and commercial film. The Audition, a 35mm short for Armani Beauty, was a finalist at Ciclope Asia-Pacific.
Before film he raced internationally as a cyclist. He still runs.
He is currently developing To Know a Place, a documentary on Australian extraction landscapes, and a short film on Jèrriais, the endangered Norman language of Jersey.
